Coating Ceremony

15th October 2015; the day which marks the day where all UKM Dental Third Year students officially became Clinical Students.

The event was called Dental Coating ceremony, where the UKM Dental Faculty Dean, and the Vice Dean put on clinical labcoats on Third Year students; a symbol to show that they have finally emerged as clnical Dental students.

With the theme, "The Coat of Honour", all Dental students and Dental lecturers and staffs gathered at DK1 for the ceremony.

The ceremony started with the two speakers welcoming the Dean, Vice Dean and all the other lecturers into the hall. Then, we all stood up to sing our National song, 'Negaraku'.

A First Year student, Alif, walked up to the stage to recite the du'a in order to bless the ceremony. We were all then was entertained by a video made by the members of the comittee; an incredible video showing how the Third Year students are currently catching up to the trends of being the 'juniors' in the clinical section, having clinical partners, and how they're adapting to having to treat real live .human being as their patients!  Oh my, that must've been nerve-wrecking, though very exciting!

After that, the moment which we've all waited for has finally come. The coating part!
Our Faculty Dean, AP Dr Tuti Ningseh bt Mohd Dom, and the Faculty Vice Dean, Dr Dahlia, went up to the stage and took their place to honour the Third Year students, by helping them wear their clinical labcoats.

Alif, one of the students, took a glance to the camera. Perfect timing!

                                                  Aflah and Sofiah, clinical partners.

Oh wait Dr, my hand got stuck!

Hanif took this chance to be photographed with the Dean without his clinical partner noticing! Haha

After that was over, all the Third students stood along a the side of the hall, and Liew Nyan Fatt, the Class Representative for Third Year students, came to the front; he led the recitation of pledge (much more like an oath). This was done so that the Third Year students would promise to be great clinicians, while taking all the precautions and safety measurements during clinical sessions seriously and to their hearts' content.

After that, basically the ceremony was over. It was a successfull event!

The event was done pretty quickly as a talk which was given by representatives from Colgate company, was about to follow. All First Years and Second Years were allowed to leave, and all Third Year, Fourth Year and Fifth Year students were required to attend the talk.

It was a complete wrap! Congratulations to all Third Year students! Good luck for your upcoming clinical years!
