THE 39TH CONVOCATION FAIR

Last weekend, on the 23rd, 24th and 25th September, the National University of Malaysia (UKM) has organized its annual event which is a glorious festival of the 39th Convocation. There were many bodies and associations involved in this program including the Faculty of Dentistry. Each year, our faculty will participate in organizing the exhibition and clinical booth in the Gemilang Hall. This venue is chosen as the visitor attraction site for its variety in housing booths selling items ranging from eye-catching souvenirs, clothing to sumptuous food and beverages.

Each year, the Dental booth provides dental check-up or dental screening to the public. Those who came for the check-up will also be given counseling and free gifts. In addition, the Faculty of Dentistry organizes a sale of oral hygiene products like toothbrushes, toothpaste, mouth rinses, etc. at prices cheaper than the ones on the market. 

At the clinical booth, several exhibitions consisting of oral health posters, prosthodontic appliances (e.g. dentures), and orthodontics (e.g. braces) were held to promote oral health care the public. We also bring matters such as health problems associated with oral health to their attention. Another thing that attracts the crowd to the Dental booth is the paediatric section that has fun and interesting games which definitely appeals to the children and helps to promote to them that a trip to the dentist can be enjoyable.

With the organization of the Dental booth, we hope it increases the public’s awareness regarding the importance oral health and oral hygiene.
