Last March 3, 2010, the 6th Kejohanan Intervarsiti was held at the International Islamic University campus Kuantan. This was the first-ever tournament that was attended by hundreds of students from universities across the Faculties of Dentistry including Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Mara, International Islamic University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Malaya and not forgetting the Universiti Sains Malaysia.
The main purpose of this competition was to produce competitive dental students, with a high sporting spirit to foster brotherhood relationship between dental students. In addition, this tournament more or less helps to relax our exhausted minds after basking ourselves in books and lecture notes as well as to get contacts from the other universities' dental faculty.
Among the games that were played include Netball (F), Basketball (M), Volleyball (M and F), Futsal (M and F), Badminton (M and F), Ping Pong (M and F) and for the highlighted event, sprint 100m and 4x100m for men only. UKM representatives contingent consists of more than 70 participants that occupied 2 University buses. UKM contingent departed at 12:30 am and arrived in Kuantan around 4:30 am. With fighting spirit in their hearts, athletes showed high promising hopes in ensuring UKM will do what is takes to win all the medals.
Thanks to their perseverance and hard-playing moves, et voila! UKM contingent finally won several medals including gold for Futsal (L), Volleyball (L), and the 4x100m sprint, badminton (L) and 100m sprint only got bronze medals. Prizes were given at the stadium.
DENSTA congratulates and thank the contigent with great appreciation for their successful efforts that brought honor to UKM although we are not the Overall Champion. Hopefully, our contingents can grab the victory in the next tournament with a spirited game. Also on behalf of DENSTA, we would like to congratulate and express our thanks to the Inter-varsity 2012 organizing committee for their effort in making this event a success.
