Continuous Professional Development (CPD)

It was truly beneficial and SUPERBLY INTERESTING!

Five students from each batch of UKM Dental Students became the speakers for this programme.
Janice Hew Pei Fang (3rd year student), Ong Hsiao Ting (4th year student), Joshua Peh Jian Ren (2nd year student), Ng Jia Ying and Lo Kaileen (5th year students).

All of them shared the wonderfuL experiences they had while they were studying overseas, or were involved in volunteering work in another country!

Janice, for example, went to Thailand, as an volunteer to teach the Thai children, how to speak better English. Her story went on and on, and the audience was filled with laughter as she showed us pictures of the Thai kids she taught there, who were making funny faces in the slideshow.

Ong, on the other hand, went to Cambodia. She said that the experience had definitely changed her life. She was said to be, at first, was afraid of water due to almost drowning back when she was 5. However, she was determined to change that fear, and now, she's got a license of her own to go diving 80metre under the sea. She met new friends there, (international friends!) and made lota of great memories while her 44days of venturing to Cambodia.

Joshua went to America first for an 'after SPM' exchange programm. Then, he went to Philippines for an educational programme, where he learnt to not judge anyone at all. He met great friends and he surely had fun!

Ng and Lo were the last to deliver their speech. Each and every one of the, ended their speech with some advice to everyone, so that everyone else (the audience) would be interested to participate in such an remarkable adventure as well.

Like Joshua said, "These things may not get you merits to stay in college, but they're merits for your life experience."

The session was ended with Dr Muhammad Syafiq Asyraf Rosli, a former UKM Dental Student (who is now of course, UKM Dental Alumni). He came to the front and tell us about the programme he entered right after he graduated UKM. It was certainly interesting and it at least gave some of us an idea of what to do after we graduate. Thank you so much, Dr Syafiq!

There's so much more out there than what meets the eye. If you dare to explore, then you will never regret it one bit.
