WORLD ORAL HEALTH DAY 2016

On 20th March, many students of UKM Dental Faculty have volunteered to become a part of this World Oral Health Day event, which was held in IOI City Mall. Some prepared the gimmick act, some entered the video making contest, and some became entertainers by performing lots of performances such as dancing singing and so on. Hooray for UKM Dental students! 

          

The event started with an opening act by students from PIDC, who did a toothbrushing dance. It was a lot of fun!

After that, the gimmick ceremony was launched by the Deputy Minister of Health, YB Dato' Seri Dr Helmi bin Haji Yahaya. The gimmick was also done by our UKM Dental students, and it was remarkable!

           

The gimmick act was done by Dato Seri Dr Helmi brushing a giant tooth, with a giant toothbrush, then puts the toothbrush in the tooth's hands, which will then light up the tooth itself. WOW AMAZING!

Free dental checkups were available in 'Klinik Pergigian Bergerak'. The Deputy Minister also went to try it out, and after him, many of us went to line up for the check up. Not only that, once you get the doctor's signature after the check up, you can get two goodie bags with lots of assorted chewing gums (WRIGLEY's EXTRA chewing gums) for FREE! Totally amazing!

Then, some of the dental crew from Kelantan who called themselves 'Abang Sado' went on stage and blew everyone's heart away by performing a dance while singing! They DO have incredible voices, I might add. 😁

After that, they announced the winners for the video making competition. The winner was a student from Lincoln University, but our UKM Dental student, Liew Nyan Fatt, managed to get second place, which was equally amazing!

Then after that, there were many performances which took the attention of many people from every floor of the mall. 

     

Students from MAHSA University did a winderful job in dancing to assorted songs; there were a Bollywood song, Korean song and even a funky English song! They truly did a great job!

                    

Our UKM Dental students (The First Year juniors) did a wonderful job in acoustic performance, whereby one sang three songs, one played a keyboard, and one was playing the guitar. After that was the choir performance,and truly, it was done beautifully. Great job guys and girls! 

Our mascot, the toothpaste and an electric toothbrush, finally made their appearance, and took this little kid's attention, who insisted on taking a picture with them. 😂

  

A flashmob done by the Kelantan dental crew was superbly amazing! They were dancing to the beat of the 'Watch Me' by Silento, which was a really exciting and fun!

 Two of our students, who were also very amazing dancers managed to steal most of the crowd's attention while they were performing a dance to the song 'What Do You Mean' by Justin Bieber, and 'Dessert' by Dawin ft Silento. Hooray! Hooray!

The event ended with a flashmob, done by our UKM Dental students also. The flashmob was the most thrilling part of the event as many people in the mall were watching. To see how we actually did it, you can just Google 'UKM WOHD flashmob'! And there you have it! 

We did pur best, and we of course, had loads of fun! Thank you to everyone who participated!
