39th APDSA CONGRESS ::INTRODUCTION::
สวัสดี (Sa-wa-dee-kha) everybody! This year’s Asian Pacific Dental Student Association (APDSA) Congress has brought us to the Land of Smiles and White Elephants (Yup, you guessed it right) Thailand! Hosted in Bangkok from 15-19th August 2011, the organization that made this event a success consisted of the Thai dental students from various universities including Chulalongkorn University, Mahidol University, Srinakharinwirot University, Thammasat University, Rangsit University, Khon Kaen University, Chiang Mai University, Naresuan University and Prince of Songkla University.
This congress was joined by more than 400 participants from 21 Asian Pacific countries. Our UKM contingent sent in 11 students accompanied by Dr Marlynda Ahmad. We departed from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) on the 14th August 2011 at 3.15pm and arrived in Suvarnabhumi International Airport, Bangkok at 4.30pm, local time.
We were taken to the hotel where we will be staying during the period of the congress, i.e. the Rama Gardens Hotel at Vibhavadi Rangsit Road. After some freshening up, some of us went for early sightseeing at Bangkok’s Chinatown at night, while the rest decided to hit the sack early.
To be continue.
