39th APDSA CONGRESS ::DAY 6::

We had sahur and breakfast in the morning before our activity today: Floating market and activities in Koh Lan (Lan Island). At 9am, we headed to the floating market for some sightseeing and shopping. Some of us took this chance to get the Thai massages after so many days of non-stop walking. Souvenir shopping was a must as our stay in Pattaya was almost coming to an end. Besides, the prices are negotiable yet majority of the salespeople will usually play hard to get, obviously since we are tourists.

The food sold there were unique as well. Crocodile satay, fried grasshoppers, scorpions were a delicacy for those who are adventurous on the taste buds. For some who still cling to the Malaysian food, no worries. Southern Thai tea (teh tarik) and pan-fried bread (roti canai) and sticky rice (pulut) were available too! We headed back to the hotel for a quick change of clothes before heading out to the beach across the hotel. There, we took a speed boat (about 20 minutes ride) to Koh Lan. You could say the island beach is similar to Cherating, Kuantan. Activities that could be done there was sunbathing, swimming in the sea, resting on the beach chairs, going for banana boat ride, etc.

Needless to say, the mandatory souvenir from the island was a definite tan. It was back to the hotel for us at 5pm. We freshened up at our rooms before tonight’s dinner and farewell activities. The dinner that night was by the pool and consisted of a BBQ seafood course meal.  At 9pm, we headed for the same beach where we departed for Koh Lan earlier for the farewell activity, which was lighting up the sky lanterns and releasing them into the sky. It was a magical moment for everybody since each group released one and to watch them fly, wondering where they (the lanterns) might end up the next morning. We also made a souvenir for ourselves, whereby each of us wrote messages on a paper to a special someone (whom we known during the APDSA trip) and put it in a tiny jar bottle decorated with coloured sand.
