39th APDSA CONGRESS ::DAY 4::
It’s another beautiful day in Bangkok as we woke up again for our sahur and breakfast. Today’s activity is the optional tour organized by the APDSA LOC. Some of us joined the Ancient City tour where they brought us for sightseeing at what is dubbed as the world's largest outdoor museum. Situated close to the Crocodile Farm in Samut Prakan province (1 hour journey from Bangkok), the 320-hectare city features 116 structures of Thailand's famous monuments and architectural attractions. The grounds of Ancient Siam correspond roughly to the shape of the Kingdom, with each of the monuments lying at their correct places geographically. Some of the buildings are life-size replicas of existing or former sites, while others are scaled down.
On the other hand, some of us went for the Chokchai Farm tour which is in Nakhon Ratchasima Province (2 hours journey from Bangkok). Imagine that! Anyway, when we got there, the view of the farm is breathtaking knowing that Chokchai Farm is one of the largest dairy farms in Asia. The farm offers agro-tourism activities with the guide showing the facilities, including the production of raw milk, raising milk cows, milking cows, horse-riding, touring horse stables, dog farms, a zoo and a manufacturing industry of dairy products.
After lunch and a quick trip to the souvenir shop, we headed back for the hotel. Apparently those who went for the Chokchai Farm tour arrived last at the hotel. Go figure. We hurriedly showered and got dressed for the evening gala that was the finale of the congress, i.e. Cultural Night and Closing Ceremony of the 39th APDSA Congress in Bangkok.
That night, we exchange our names cards and gifts among our acquaintances and friends. As mentioned before, we and the IMU students represented Malaysia in performing a dance fusion of joget and zapin. Even though we didn’t win for our performance, we were proud to be the Malaysian delegates in promoting our multicultural society and heritage. 15 countries participated in performing that night and we were honoured to be a part of it and to enjoy it as well.
